Time to Be Dad
Ross realised he was gay at the age of twenty. At that time he did not think it possible that he would ever start a family of his own. But the idea never went away entirely.
Eight years later he had met and married Pete, and the question of parenthood returned to the fore. Supported by family, friends, foster carers and social workers, Ross and Pete began to navigate the long road which would eventually lead to their son, ‘Moose’.
Time To Be Dad is Ross’s account of his experiences during the adoption process, taken from the journal he kept throughout. A valuable resource for foster carers, social workers, prospective adopters and those who support them, full of heartwarming insights into what it really means to build a family.
Reviews
A brilliant book which I couldn’t put down from the moment I picked it up. Easy to read and had me hooked.
A completely honest account of Ross and Pete’s adoption journey, including all the highs and the lows. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone going through the process themselves but also for their family and friends. Ross really has captured the whole adoption process.
Moose is one lucky boy to have such brilliant, kind and caring parents.
My partner and I are at the beginning stages of the adoption process and this book has us excited all over again. A funny, emotional and really honest view of what an adoption journey can look like. Ross has captured thoughts and feelings that I am already having but was afraid to say outloud so it is good to feel like we are not alone. Would recommend to everyone - not just those on their own adoption journey!
